For histopathologial studies on the operative materials of the female genital organs in the Chungnam area, total 708 specimens of female genital organs were colle:tea at the Department of Pathology, Chungnam National University School of Melicine, from 1973 to 1980.
The results were as follows:
1. The highest age incidence was at 40th age group, and was 282 cases (39. 8%). and the next was at 30th, 222 cases (31. 4%), and at 20th, 89 cases (12. 6%), respectively.
2. In the type and procedure of the operation of total 708 laparatomy, the highest incidence was hysterectomy with adnexectomy, and was 329 cases (45. 6%), and the next, adnexectomy, 194 cases (27.4%), and hysterectomy with adnexectomy and appendectomy, 83 cases (11.7%).
3. The most frequent histopathological lesion in the uterine cervix was nonspecific cervicitis, and was 356 cases (72. 5%), and the next, nabothian cyst, 152 cases (31. 0%), and squamous metaplasia, 132 cases (26.9%), respectively. The most frequent tumor in the cervix was epidermoid carcinoma, and was 40 cases (8. 1%).
4. The most frequent histopathological lesion in the uterus was adenomyosis, and was202 cases (39.2%), and the next, leiomyoma, 125 cases(24. 3%), and endometrial hyperplasia, 110 cases (21.4%), respectively. The most frequent malignant tumor in the uterus was choriocarcinoma, and was 16 cases (3. 1%). Incomplete abortion and uterine perforation, also, relatively higher incidence, and were 29 cases (5. 6%) and 10 cases (1. 9%).
5. The most frequent lesion in the salpinx and ovaries of the hysterectomy with adnexectomized cases was nonspecific salpingitis, and was 190 cases (46. 1%), and the next, corpus luteum cyst, 152 cases (36.9%), and follicular cyst, 110 cases (26.7%), respectively. The most frequent tumor was cystadenoma, and was 18 cases (4. 4%), and the next, teratoma, 11 cases (2. 7%), and_ fibroma of the ovaries, 6 cases (1. 5%), respectively.
6. The most frequent lesion in the salpinx and ovaries of the adnexectomizwl cases was tubal pregnancy, and was 94 _cases (48.5%), and the next, nonspecific salpingitis, 53 cases (27.3%), and corpus luteum cyst, 53 cases (21.1%), respectively. The most frequent tumor was cystadenoma, and was 18 cases (9.3%), and the next, teratoma, 17 cases (8. 8%), and cystadenocarcinoma, 5 cases (2. 6%), respectively.
